Inspired by the works of Moliere, Marivaux and Beaumarchais, The Lovers' Ruse is an homage to 17th and 18th century French comedies of the stage. Set in mid-18th century Italy, the plot revolves around - what else - amore, but as a result of their amorous pursuits, the romance-minded characters entangle themselves in an increasingly complicated Gordian knot of love. Machinations and misunderstandings abound, amid wit, verve and a break-neck pace. Who, if anyone, will win in this comedic game of love?
