Olivia Longo debates in this new book, the manner in which man has used and manipulated the land in valley of the River P0 in Lombardy. The landscape is basically flat, once upon a time an endless green vision stretching to the sea, with only the occasional farmhouse adding a dimension to the view. Gradually these farmhouses and their surrounding farms have been surrounded by the cities, and yet those that remain are valued for their connection to ancient cultural values, which connect modern man to the land and nature.Even the urban garden has a leading role, both in sociological and aesthetical terms in reconfiguring a rural territory and through the projects described in this book, the author expands the way in which a new urban world can still retain the signs and values of ancient agricultural activity.
