When Detective David Lebka gets kidnapped one night in Diwedton, he expects anything but being forced to kill a man by his old enemy, Abram Worthy. While trying to escape this terrible memory, he is also charged with solving the murder of the man he killed. The man who just so happened to be an important figure in the town- the mayor. Unfortunately, this is a mayor the town hated. They raise this "avenging killer" up on their shoulders as some sort of hero. Meanwhile, Lebka struggles with his feelings of wanting to conform to society's expectations, coupled with his desire to kill again. This is a book about death, family, love, and society. And, perhaps most importantly, conforming in abnormality.
