These plays tell of comedy and tragedy in the lives of people far in the backcountry of the Deep South. They present characters such as a young black widow, a scapegrace black troubadour, and a lively black girl in their native surroundings and portray what life is like for them. These plays may be produced simply on school and little theatre stages.
