Knowing little more than that all four of her grandparents were born in Sweden and then met and married in Chicago, Joanne set out to find out all she could about her father's mother who came to America alone in 1900. Writing out some of the family's history, she filled in the gaps with her imagination, hoping to give her children and grandchildren an idea of what life was like for some of their ancestors.
