The story revolves around a group of late teens who are called Emotionists - people who can use their emotions to generate powers and weaponry. Drew Steiner is sent with Bennett Warrington, his best friend, and girlfriend Christina Welkers to the front lines along with nine other Emotionists who seem to have different motives other than bringing the ongoing war to an end. Between the Emotionalist War Faction and Falleous - an underground society of Emotionists who use their abilities for wrongdoing - Drew and the others have to learn the stakes of war, and must embrace the presence that lives inside all of them. As the struggle continues, Drew becomes aware of the war's dark, twisted influence on him, and that the people who work with and around him are not as well-intentioned as he originally thought.
