This edition focuses on the minutes of the first twenty sessions of the Conference of the Eastern Regional Churches (Eastern Church Conference), which took place in the Soviet occupation zone from August 1945 under the chairmanship of Bishop Otto Dibelius. Through the Eastern Church Conference and a joint administration (the Berlin office of the EKD Church Chancellery), the church leaders in the SBZ wanted to work on issues of common interest, ensure unanimous representation before the political authorities and the participation of the Eastern Churches in the development of the EKD despite the division of Germany guarantee. The protocol texts and their appendices are made accessible through extensive commentary.
