This text contains lectures on the basics of high energy physics by prominent researchers and theorists collaborating with historically black colleges to build their research infrastructure, while increasing minority contributions to scientific research. Topics covered include elementary particles, particle astrophysics, instrumentation, and an overview of high energy physics experiments. This text is intended to be of use to high energy physicists and researchers as well as science policymakers and educators, particularly those involved with minority issues in science education.
