A Corpus-Informed Investigation into Environmental Engineering English
The aim of this book is to describe the domain-specific language of environmental engineering English calling on the aid of corpus-linguistic methods on the lexical and the morphological level in order to deduce useful information for ESP-courses at university level. It comprises an introduction into general corpus-linguistic concepts and the approach taken as well as an explanation of the corpus planning and the corpus design. Furthermore, concordance data is made use of in order to deduce information on collocation, colligation, semantic preference and semantic prosody for this special language and on the morphological level, word-formation phenomena and their productivity are investigated. Finally, the application of the derived corpus data in the ESP-class is examined.
