Eversley Gardens and Others
Originally published in 1907, this book is a beautifully written account of different gardens and the plants therein. It contains a wealth of information regarding the types of plants suited for times of year, location within the garden, their preferences for various soil types, but it is also more than a simple gardener's companion. It is written in a poetic style where the author also gives brief accounts of the memories that certain plants evoke and has a smattering of anecdotes. There are many lovely photographs throughout. Contents Include: Making the Garden - Concerning Soils - Plantings and Prunings - The Spring Garden and its Bulbs - May Garlands - The Shubbery - The Summer Garden - The Rose Garden - A Garden of Delight - Cut Flowers and a Few Hints on Their Arrangement - Birds and Gardens - The Autumn Garden - Bramshill - The Rectory Garden and the Mount
