The music of Finnish composer Kai Nieminen (b. 1953) does not conform to any “isms”. He remarks: “I feel like I am a painter in music, who having seen or experienced something attempts to give that something a shape in music.”
Il viaggio del cavaliere ... (inesistente), a concerto for violin and orchestra was composed in 2005 for violinist Erkki Palola. The inspiration for the "Nonexistent Knight" was found from literature (Calvino, Cervantes), from music by Monteverdi and in the singing of birds. The armor bearer Gurdulu is prented by harp in the orchestral version. Have a look inside by clicking "sample".
