The first decade of the 2000s has witnessed many changes in the Finnish society. People’s commitment to social institutions has weakened. The Internet has come to almost every home and changed the communication environment. Internal migration has been more lively than ever before. Changes in municipal structures have affected the structures of parishes. There has been an increase in the number of immigrants and the spectrum of religions in Finland has grown. These changes also get reflected in the activities of the Church. This book describes the activities of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland during the period of 2004-2007. It is based on the Church's four-year report concerning that period, originally published in Finnish and Swedish. Comparable reports have been published since 1967.
