The second edition of Teaching and Learning in the Middle Grades reflects the changes that have occurred in middle-grades education in the past several years. A strong research base helps teachers link their knowledge of young adolescents with their understanding of curriculum and sound instructional practices. Descriptions of middle-grades classrooms and examples of dialogue between teachers and young adolescents are actual samples collected by the authors during their visits to middle-grades schools.
