Shanghai, 1920.

Doug and Becca Mackenzie’s parents have been missing for over a year when they are taken to live onboard their uncle’s ship, the Expedient, bound for a research expedition to the South China Sea.

Doug is thrilled to have the opportunity to investigate the ship’s engines and crankshafts, but the pair soon realise that there is much more going on than first meets the eye. They soon become caught up in an action-packed adventure of an ancient order created to protect the world from evil.
