The Teacher’s Guides & CD-ROMs

The Teacher’s Guides work seamlessly together with the Students’ Book and ActiveTeach to offer you a fully supported and differentiated solution to help you deliver the 21st Century Science specifications successfully from your first day of teaching.

The Teacher’s Guides include:

•  Introduction – a brief overview of the topic that sets out the learning objectives.

•  Lesson notes – provided for each double-page of the Students’ Book to make it easy to incorporate the material into your teaching.

 Each lesson note includes:

•  a list of the worksheets available in the Copymaster File

•  learning objectives

•  key words

•  ideas for a starter activity

•  suggestions for learning activities

•  points to note (e.g. common areas of confusion, more detailed notes on the science in the topic, etc.)

•  suggestions for plenary activities

•  ideas for additional homework or research activities

•  a guide to running practicals and/or demonstrations, including apparatus list, safety points and timing

The Copymaster Files & CD-ROMs

The Copymaster File provides all the worksheets and other materials intended to be photocopied for student use.

The following worksheets can be found in the Copymaster File:

•  Target sheets – provided at the beginning of each topic for each student to record their progress, helping to increase their confidence
•  Practical sheets and classwork sheets
•  Homework sheets for each topic at Foundation level and Higher level
•  Practice exam-style tests – the CD-ROM that accompanies the Copymaster File includes six specimen multiple-choice tiered tests – two each for biology, chemistry and physics
•  Sample Investigative Skills Assignments (ISAs) – six sample ISAs are provided on the CD-ROM – two biology, two chemistry and two physics – to assess the ‘How Science Works’ criteria.
