These pages are not written to persuade unbelievers nor to gratify heretics, but for the sake of believers in Christianity who either feel impelled to search, test and arrange Christian truth to some extent for themselves, or who ought to feel so. To the former, this book may prove a comfort, to the latter a wholesome disturbance.
