This work consists of 22 essays, written since the mid-1970s, which look at the work of many of the famous 17th and 20th century Irish writers. It includes essays on: Swift; Joyce; Yeats; Moore; Somerville and Ross; Goldsmith; Lady Morgan; Lever; Maturin; Maud Gonne; and Wilfred Scawen Blunt.
