This "Nutcracker" is a fresh, imaginative reworking of one of the best-known works of the classical era. After the albums "Swan Lake" and "Sleeping Beauty", the new album completes the trilogy with Tchaikovsky's music, which the Estonian conductor Kristjan Järvi has arranged. The first two albums by the Baltic Sea Philharmonic under Järvi received international praise: "Consistently brilliantly instrumented and also melodically extremely catchy - some pieces have a real catchy character" (Fono Forum), "wild dances, sparkling rhythms, brilliant choirs and soulful, poetic moments" (Audio).
For the new album, Järvi has picked up, edited and rearranged the highlights of Tchaikovsky's famous ballet music "The Nutcracker". But there is also music that Järvi composed from scratch, such as the opening track "Welcome to Wonderland", which gently guides the listener into the Nutcracker's beautiful winter kingdom. Popular original pieces like the "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy" or the "Snowflake Waltz", iconic scenes and dances, but also arrangements like the "Grandfather Dance" are distilled in this captivating new version of this famous masterpiece, transforming Tchaikovsky's favorite ballet score into a magical, musical one Trip.
