This new textbook uses the successful and acclaimed How To Pass formula to deliver  complete and comprehensive coverage of all eight modules offered in the New CLAIT 2006 course, and to help the student pass the OCR exams. In order to do this, the book provides eight vital elements:

An overview of the qualification and what the student must know in order to complete each unit. 

1. Clear guidance on how to carry out all the activities – from opening the appropriate software package to changing the look of a graph, adding a new slide to a presentation or inserting the correct picture into a publication.
2. Exercises that will offer the chance to practise these skills.
3. An opportunity to work through entire assignments.  These are set out in the same manner as the final assessment, but also provide model answers. The student can compare these to their own work and see where marks might have been lost.
4. Help in avoiding mistakes.  Some of these, known as Critical errors, will lead to instant failure and so within each chapter of How to Pass New CLAIT, the critical errors are highlighted in the text and summarised at the end.  All other errors, including the failure to follow instructions or enter data correctly, are known as Accuracy or Data Entry errors and students are allowed 3 per unit.  Errors may occur because a word is spelledwrong, or because the student fails to follow an instruction correctly. Some errors are more common than others, and this book also highlights the mistakes frequently made by other learners studying for New CLAIT.  
5. A final, self-assessment checklist for each unit that will allow the student to assess their own skills and ensure that there are no gaps in their knowledge or capabilities.
6. Guidance based on the most widely used software – Microsoft Office 2000.
7. A comprehensive glossary so that all the technical terms and computer jargon mentioned in the book - or met during your studies -are clearly understood.
