This work explores the jazz accordion. The accordion was just considered as an instrument for playing popular music for many years, and only recently has been recognized as a "cultured" instrument, thanks its introduction as a fully accredited conservatory subject. Our manual, is comprised of 9 chapters and 240 pages and displayed in three parts. The first part deals with the basic techniques, by technical and articulation exercises including scales, arpeggios, finger independence, and thumb passages. The second section includes several topics such as functional harmony using the seventh chords in all their positions, the practice of II-V-I cadences, voicing, modes, unusual scales. The last section consists of creative applications in order to learn technical and theoretical knowledge, as well as the correct performance and improvisation of standard jazz and blues.
