Erich Korngold, a Viennese wunderkind who became a creator of the “Hollywood sound”, drew on several movie scores for his violin concerto. No soloist better evokes its sumptuous thrills and haunting nostalgia than Perlman, who pairs it with the richly melodic 1898 concerto of the Russian Julius Conus.
