The history of Awadh (Oudh) explores its early history and legends and, then, gives a detailed account of its fortunes during the nawabi period (1720-1856), the zamindari policy (1856-57) the annexation of Awadh, and the history and effects of the ten years of the Talukdari policy (1858-1868).
