Ingersoll takes the opposite side of the question of belief in God and gods in a book that will inflame Evangelical Christians and delight Secular Humanists. Of particular interest is the striking contemporaneity of Ingersoll's observations and arguments in the context of the ideological struggles occuring in the United States and, indeed, worldwide in the first decades of the twenty-first century.
