The current merging of computer and communications technologies is facilitating the trend toward the virtual workplace. As the growth in the workplace accelerates, organizations face new challenges to cope with their new organizational structure. The new challenges that organizations face include understanding the new social dynamic environment resulting in its increasing difficulty in attracting and retaining a skilled workforce, and accomodating an increasingly diverse workplace.
