Ted Hughes Reading His Poetry
An extensive selection of the late Laureate's major poems, read in his inimitable style.
Ted Hughes, one of England's foremost poets, and Poet Laureate since 1984, is also a haunting reader of his own work. On this recording he reads his own choice of more than fifty poems from the first twenty years of a literary career that began with the publication of 'Hawk in the Rain' in 1957. In particular, the programme includes a generous selection from two of his most powerful and distinctive works: 'Wodwo' (1967) and 'Crow' (1970).
