This book will respond to the political and policy changes made by the Coalition government up to the 2015 general election providing a reflection across the social policies of this government. It will reflect on the first 100 days of the new UK government and consider their implications. In doing so it will provide a timely assessment of the extent of change in social policies and the wider environment under the Coalition government in part, but by no means limited to, the impact of 'austerity'. It will therefore provide a consideration of the major influences on policy under the Coalition. The emphasis of the book will primarily be reflecting back on the period from 2010 to 2015 to review and evaluate the extent of change under the Coalition. However, it will also look forward, following the 2015 general election, to draw out what that period means for the incoming government, whether Conservative, Labour, or another coalition, of whatever composition.
