The Texas War of Independence 1835-36
The Texas Revolution is remembered for the 13-day siege of the alamo and the immortal heroes thus created in David Crockett, James Bowie, and William Barret Travis. This work explains that the Revolution had been fermenting in resentments and minor confrontations for some years beforehand. War finally broke out after an obscure skirmish at Gonzales in October 1835, fought over possession of a small cannon. A Mexican army invaded, but Texians rallied in defense and at the Battle of San Jacinto won their independence.
