Everyone supposedly knows Oleg Khromushin who is the prominent Russian composer, conductor and teacher. While being the author of the variety of music works he is well known in the world of music teaching as an author of a brilliant series I want to learn jazz! O. Khromushin always defended the opinion that the way into the Great Music for the talented child often lies beyond the limits of traditional music education, specifically via learning and performing jazz. The first stage of his method is introducing of evergreens and improvisational performance of them. The present album is addressed to the entry-level jazzmen who still are not content with mere repetitions of the pieces and would like to bring in some creativity into the process. Synthesizer included in almost all ensembles can be indefinitely retuned into another registers and sound colors. The harmonic scheme can be used as a base for performer’s own music fantasy. The melodies presented in the album are either written by Oleg Khromushin or arranged by him. All of them are in so called ‘sympho-jazz’ style where light music content meets ‘serious’ music rules. The ensemble staff is quite different in each piece. Mostly the pieces are written for string and wind ensembles, some pieces a-capella, namely Duo for 2 saxophones and Quartet for 2 flutes anв 2 clarinets.
