1920. A collection of verse by Laurence Hope (Adela Florence Nicolson Cory) an English poet who lived in India. Her first book of poems, The Garden of Kama-the Indian god of love-brought her immediate celebrity and the admiration of writers like Thomas Hardy. Two months after her husband died in an operation, Adela, 39 years old, took poison and died in Madras. Stars of the Desert is one of the three volumes of poetry she left behind.
