During the Orthodox celebration of Holy Week, the Church relives the arrest, trial, sufferings, and crucifixion of Jesus Christ. On Matins of Holy Friday (commonly served on the evening of Holy Thursday), there is a special service where, the passion of Christ’s sufferings in the Garden of Gethsemane, His Trial, and Crucifixion through all four Gospels is read aloud in church.
