In the year 1881 the 83rd (County of Dublin) Regiment of Foot was joined to the 86th (Royal County Down) Regiment of Foot to form the 1st and 2nd Batallions of The Royal Irish Rifles. This book covers the period 1793 to 1912. Most of the 83rd's Battle Honours were won in the Peninsular War when it took part in the campaign from 1809 to 1814.
