Whitewater, as the name suggests, was inspired by the rushing water in creeks, rivers and streams around rocks and other obstacles. The work has been loosely structured around the progress of a river - twisting, turning; sometimes there are sections like others, others are seemingly totally different, yet always part of the entity. There are three main sections in this predominantly fast piece. Each of these contain virtuosic solo playing as well as tutti writing.
