Where Are The Peacemakers?is a call, a warning, a challenge - and then some. Alabama-born author Jerry Henderson has been engaged in, worked in, and been exposed to eleven war and conflict zones around the world from Bosnia to Baghdad. He reminds readers of what is written in the scriptures, "Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called children of God," (Matthew 5:9.). Guided by this Bible verse in particular, a call is issued for peace and peacemakers. The author, referencing the strong words of a friend and hometown African Methodist Episcopal Minister, the late Minister L. C. Loman, and citing wars and conflicts over the past fifty years, submits that the ultimate security of this world is linked to truth, justice and peace -- not war. Loman, a wise teacher and preacher of the Gospel, would say in the midst of injustices against God's people, in the midst of problems, in the midst of things going wrong -- especially by design, in the midst of serious challenges, "somebody ought to say something." This book is a response to the challenge to "say something." Jerry Henderson has said much.
Year after year, decade after decade, and century after century -- war has not and will not work. Needless killings, deaths, bloodshed and destruction will only bring about more killings, death, bloodshed and destruction. All the guns, bullets, missiles, bombs, tanks, rocket launchers, fighter jets, submarines, and other 'weapons of human destruction' that have been and are being manufactured cannot and will not bring about justice, security, or peace. War is not the answer. A peaceful alternative is the best and only solution.
