Mike Hayes, author and co-author of over fifty articles of a factual nature in professional and related publications, dips his toe into fiction. He has used a flimsy scaffold of historical fact and theory to craft a trilogy spanning the reigns of five monarchs, three wars and seven decades. Always intended as a trilogy, each part is a whole and for those who wish it, a 'stand-alone'. 'Retribution', the third and final part, has a more domestic feel to it. Set in the imaginary Carew Manor it details the lives of the two main characters of 'Without honour' and their roles subsequent to returning from war-torn South Africa. A fragile relationship, a peaceful co-existence but tragedy and misfortune continues to dog them as they live their lives out, their secret known to no-one but themselves. Life goes full-circle as events in WW2 take their toll and the ever-nurse tends to her patient's needs.
