In this Report to The Club of Rome the author explores how and why different societal orders have emerged. He analyses the basic components of these orders - values, political governance and economic systems. He then shows how the match between these components and the internal and external environments of a country determine its social, political and economic effectiveness. Taking key countries separately he shows how each might achieve greater effectiveness by modifying the basic components.
