This volume of essays assesses recent trends and patterns of homicide among black Americans and offers several theories to explain the disproportionate occurrence of homicide among blacks in comparison to other racial groups. The contributors, whose major concern is the prevention of homicide within the black community, focus on both the incidence of acts of homicide committed by blacks, and homicide victimization.
