Eight Books of Caesar's Gallic War
1891. The authors write in the preface that: In this volume the student is permitted to compare the Latinity of the eighth book, which was written by Hirtius, with that of the seven which precede. No Latin author repays the careful study of advanced Latin scholarship more satisfactorily than Caesar, and for this reason it is a misfortune, perhaps, that the Commentaries are relegated to the preparatory school. On the other hand, in no writer are the great principles of the language so constantly reviewed, thus forming a sure foundation for classical scholarship. Contents: Inductive Studies; Eight Books of the Gallic War; Bibliography; Idioms; Notes; Exercises in Latin Composition; Word Lists; Classification of Words; Vocabulary, including Geographical and Proper Names; and Special Vocabulary to Book Eight.
