"In October 2000, film composer Hans Zimmer gave a concert as part of the Flanders Film Festival. The Wings of A Film--music being that which makes celluloid take flight--combines orchestra, rock instrumentalists and Zimmer himself on keyboards, preserving almost 72 minutes from the event in Ghent's Kuipken Concert Hall. Lisa Gerrard, whose vocals contributed significantly to the atmosphere of Gladiator, is reunited with Zimmer for a subdued version of that film's end title music. "Thunderbird" from Thelma and Louise allows the composer to fulfil his Pink Floyd fantasies, while the formal tuned percussion describing True Romance gives no clue to the film's ultra-violent nature. Rain Man offers a soft-rock lyricism which prefigures the warmth of "Nyah and Ethan" from Mission: Impossible II, "Journey to the Line" being an almost 10-minute adventure in slow-burning atmospherics from The Thin Red Line. With a track from The Power of One and two from The Lion King, virtually every style in Zimmer's repertoire (except for pulsating action music) is covered. The sound is good if sometimes a little cavernous and by necessity lacks Zimmer's usual hi-tec studio polish." - Gary S Dalkin
