Young people are a marginalized group. They are often apart from the Church rather than a part of the Church. The thought that young people might be able to help others in the Church in real and dynamic ways is rarely considered.
In an accessible and readable way the authors use theories from sociology, psychology and anthropology to throw light on this key issue of participation in the Church. Alongside the theory, Taking A Part features thought-provoking contributions from young people and youth workers who relate their experience of Church and offer successful examples of their own active contributions to Church life. This is set within a theological context, which draws on the biblical story of the talents.
Taking A Part continues the challenge to the Church of exploring new ways of building relationships with young people first brought to light in Youth A Part.
