Who's Afraid of Red, Yellow and Blue? - Positions in Colour Field Painting
This exhibition (curated by Karola Grasslin) and the accompanying catalogue takes as its theme the beginings of minimalist art and the development of colour field painting. Generally accepted to be the first international trend to develop in the USA in the 1940s and 1950s and to achieve equivalent status with what was then happening in Europe, it represented a fundamental and at the same time radical enquiry into the traditional concept of the picture in painting. It was published to accompany the exhibition "Who's Afraid of Red, Yellow and Blue? Positions in Colour Field Painting" at Staatliche Kunsthalle, Baden-Baden, July - September 2007.
