This volume, written by Goddard, the late Curator of Ethnology for the American Museum of Natural History, was originally designed as a comprehensive guide to the collections in the Museum, but at the same time it was also intended to offer a review of the facts concerning both the historic and the prehistoric aboriginal inhabitants of the Southwest region of the United States.
