Within the pastoral letters, the second letter to Timothy is particularly important in the Pauline Testament. In the name of the Apostle of Nations, instructions for church leadership and Christian life are given, with the apostle himself being drawn as the authoritative model. The commentary takes into account the pseudo-graphic character of the letter and the ecumenical goals of the EKK.
