Surgical Outpatient Decisions
A pocket-sized text on making surgical outpatient decisions. Although ideal, consultation with a senior colleague is often not possible. This book describes a course of action for each situation when that senior colleague is unavailable. It provides a source of information for all SHOs, in particular those who often find themselves in the difficult position of having to deal with follow-up patients, enabling them to have some kind of action plan in mind before they walk into patient consultation. It stresses in the introduction that there are many ways of managing conditions correctly. The first part of the text covers general principles of out-patient medicine, such as how to structure a consultation or write an effective letter. The second part covers clinical conditions, and looks at new patients, patients with chronic conditions, and follow-up patients.
