Going Bush in the Long White Cloud is a hilarious tale of a man and his van travelling around New Zealand, or the Land of the Long White Cloud, as it is called in Maori. The van comes alive and quickly demonstrates a recalcitrant but likeable character more typical of an overweight schoolboy than a campervan. Readers are treated to scene after scene of slapstick comedy as driver and van become entranced by fellow travellers, menaced by Mother Weather, and antagonised by an unscrupulous van-dealer. If you are currently travelling around NZ, you will find it easy to relate what you see and do to events in the book. But be careful! You risk getting thrown out of your backpackers accommodation for keeping others awake with your giggling!
For those of you not able to enjoy the magnificent natural wonders of New Zealand first-hand, this simply-written and delightfully-described tale will make you feel you have been there already!
