For the last 2000 years, there has been a debate about the identity and person named Yeshua-Jesus. This person lived in the 1st century in Jerusalem and died at the hands of the Jews and Gentiles. The Jews rejected his claims that he was the Jewish Messiah foretold by the prophets in their Hebrew Bible. After the destruction of the Jewish Temple and the exile of the Jews from their land at 70 A.D., the nations took hold of Yeshua-Jesus as their Christ, which in Greek means "anointed one."
