Journalist Peter Lomass is enjoying a break from work, travelling and revisiting old haunts, when he discovers a poem entitled 'The Shootout at Dogleg Crossing' on a newspaper clipping from twenty years earlier pinned up in a hotel reception area. He decides to trace the origins of the poem and his quest takes him deep into Mexico where finds himself mixed up in all sorts of skulduggery and danger.
