The second volume of rarely heard orchestral and concert works by Fauré. Includes the popular "Berceuse" and "Élégie" in orchestral versions, the famous "Pavane" and two pieces as first recordings after the new complete edition recently published by Bärenreiter.
As a sequel to The Secret Fauré, the present recording features a number of other orchestral and concert works by the French composer. Most of these performances are based on the new critical edition of Fauré’s works published by Bärenreiter Verlag, which presents them in editions grounded in the methodology of modern musicology. This recording therefore allows us to discover the composer anew, especially in the case of the present Allegro from his Symphony in F.
"Ivor Bolton and his players have clearly taken the composer’s aggravation seriously and the result is pure delight." - BBC Music Magazine, October 2019.
