Heavyweight Oxford University academic Forder gets to grips with voting reform, arguing that the Alternative Vote system is a bad idea. A vote on the issue of voting reform is due in May 2011. Forder argues that the AV system isn't proportional, will assist marginal parties such as the BNP, and will promote coalition governments, which are not good for democracy.
