In this work, individuals from a generation formed by classic rock - the 1960s and early 1970s - select their ten favourite albums, and reflect on the individual choices made. The book carries a distinct Irish dimension, with each contributor linked to Ireland through birth, blood or residence. Several hundred albums by Chuck Berry, Bob Dylan, Elvis Presley, the Rolling Stones, the Beatles, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Van Morrison and others are listed by over 50 contributors. Some contributions are made by musicians, such as Bono, Donovan, Ron Wood, Marianne Faithfull, Noel Redding and Shane MacGowan. Other contributions come from writers, including Sebastian Barry, Frank McGuinness, Carlo Gebler and Dermot Healy. Further selections are made by artists, such as Martin Gale, Robert Ballagh and Tim Goulding, record-producers, like Denny Cordell, Alec Finn and Liam Teeling, the film-makers Thaddeus O'Sullivan and Ronan O'Rahilly, cartoonist Martin Rowson, and ordinary professional workers, all of whom recall the music which had a great impression on them in their youth.
