The preparation of this FAO catalogue took over six years - a good indication of the amount of information and painstaking detail contained in its pages. 393 fish found in the inland water of Europe are listed with their scienctific and common names and the local name given for each country in which it is found. All the basic and explanatory text is given in English, German, French and Spanish. An outstanding feature of the book is the presentation which incorporates large scale, accurate, well-defined drawings of almost every species, each with an accompanying map of Europe showing where it is to be found.
